The Tennessee Bluegrass Band is an American bluegrass ensemble formed in 2021 and based in Flag Pond, Tennessee. The group is known for blending traditional bluegrass sounds with modern energy and musicianship, earning attention for its virtuosic instrumental skill and vocal harmony work.
The band originated from accomplished players who met through the East Tennessee State University Bluegrass, Old Time, and Country Music Studies program and through touring with leading acts. Founding members included Lincoln Hensley, Aynsley Porchak, John Meador, Gracie Meador, and Tim Laughlin. They signed with Nashville’s Billy Blue Records in 2021, releasing their debut music soon after.
The group describes its sound as “the future of the past,” combining traditional bluegrass structures with inventive arrangements. Their music features driving banjo by Hensley—widely regarded as a protégé of Sonny Osborne—along with Porchak’s award-winning fiddle, soulful lead vocals from Meador, and tight harmonies throughout the ensemble. Their approach emphasizes authenticity, acoustic precision, and respect for the genre’s roots.
By 2025, the Tennessee Bluegrass Band had evolved to include members Lincoln Hensley (banjo), Tim Laughlin (mandolin), Jacob and Josiah Sheffield (guitar and bass), and veteran fiddler Michael Feagan, known for touring with Bill Monroe and Jerry Reed. The band continued to perform widely across the U.S., including festivals such as The Gathering in the Gap Music Festival, and recorded a live album in 2025.
